Belmont Library closes for renovations until winter 2025

• Construction is scheduled to be completed next winter.
• Until then patrons are encouraged to use a temporary location at 3557 SE Hawthorne Boulevard for limited services (such as picking up holds or dropping off books), or nearby Holgate and Central libraries.

Zoom in: Once construction is completed, the new Belmont Library will be double the size, at about 15,000 square feet with a new two-story addition.

• The original 1924 brick building facade will be kept intact.
• Inside, new amenities include a play and learning space for children, additional meeting rooms and upgraded technology.

By the numbers: The project costs $28 million and is paid for by a 2020 voter-approved library bond.
