Expect traffic delays if you plan to hit the freeway this weekend. Credit: Oregon Department of Transportation
All lanes in both directions of I-5 from the S Harbor Drive to Kruse Way exits in SW Portland — a total of four miles — will be closed starting tomorrow at 9pm through the weekend, reopening Monday at 5am.
Why it matters: The freeway closure is needed to rebuild an aging overpass across SW 26th Avenue and will most certainly cause delays for commuters and those looking to get out of town ahead of the Fourth of July.
Zoom in: The Oregon Department of Transportation recommends drivers use I-205, I-84, OR 217 or U.S. 26 as detours.
