Columbia Sportswear had the money shot of Thursday's Moon landing, with its name and logo in prominent view on the lunar module Odysseus on the Moon.

Why it matters: It could be the best known space-based product placement since Elon Musk sent a Tesla Roadster up on SpaceX's Falcon Heavy test flight in 2018.

The Columbia name is on the Omni-Heat Infinity heat-reflective film protecting the cryogenic propulsion tank.

  • The metallic foil is already available in Columbia's winter clothing, usually in a dot pattern, as a lining.
  • However, on Intuitive Machines' Nova-C lunar lander it was full-on, bold gold.

Fun fact: Moon temperatures can vary between -250° and 250° Fahrenheit.

Check it out: On Feb. 19, the Washington County-based company also took over the surface of Sphere on the Las Vegas Strip, which mimicked the Moon.

Zoom out: Intuitive Machines says it is "focused on pioneering the commercial landscape of the Moon."
