• In 2015, Tucson became the first U.S. city to be named a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy for its long agricultural history and thriving culinary industry.
• More recently, many of the city's chefs and restaurants have received James Beard Foundation nods.

Between the lines: City officials noted that Tucson's culinary commitment is about more than just tasty bites — it also offers a window into the city's heritage.

• "Our food isn't just about the flavors; it's about honoring the traditions passed down through generations," Visit Tucson president and CEO Felipe Garcia said in a statement.
