Try Dahlia for some tasty tapas in central Phoenix

• It's the latest venture from Audrey Corley, the owner of Boycott Bar in the Melrose District.

What we ordered: There's a lot to choose from and we tried as many things as we could.

• From the small tapas menu, we ordered the marinated olives, roasted vegetables and grilled Argentinian shrimp.
• We picked the tostada trio and Spanish dates from the large tapas menu.
• They've also got an ample cocktail menu that, as the restaurant's name would suggest, is heavy on tequila drinks.

Best bites: Everything was incredible. And just because they're tapas doesn't mean the portions are small — even the olives were massive and meaty.

• My favorite was the Spanish dates, which are wrapped in bacon and filled with chorizo for a salty and savory yet somewhat sweet treat.
• The chicken tinga tostada was conventional, albeit delicious, but the avocado tostada and especially the spicy harissa-glazed carrot tostada were unlike any I'd had before.

1 big cocktail menu: My wife and I tried a few of the cocktails, but my favorite was probably the Black Dahlia, with Valencia orange tequila, Amaro Montenegro and black cherry puree. It was sweet — but not too sweet — and made a great pre-dinner drink.

• If you're feeling extravagant, they have a $70 cocktail that includes edible gold as one of its ingredients.
