π Heartbreakers: Tempe skateboarder Paige Heyn came in sixth in the street finals after failing to land her final trick, a switch frontside Smith grind that has never been done in competition and would have almost guaranteed her a medal, her coach told the Arizona Republic.
- Gilbert swimmer Keaton Jones finished fifth in the 200-meter backstroke Wednesday and will come home without a medal.
- Tucson native Daleny Vaughn made the semifinals in the women's BMX racing event but failed to qualify for the finals.
- Phoenix cyclist Brandon McNulty took fifth in the individual time trial Saturday β the best finish by a U.S. athlete in the event since 2012. He finished 24th in the road race Saturday..
