Philly's Portal is getting closer to finding a new home — just not in Philly.

Catch up quick: The 12-foot-tall circular art installation must leave its current location in City Hall's courtyard by Oct. 31, when its temporary permit expires.

Philly's Portal, which arrived in 2024, is the only one in North America and connects to six other installations in cities across the globe via an all-hours live video feed.

State of play: Nicolas Klaus, Portals CEO, tells Axios that his group is in conversations with a prospective host who will likely receive the Portal.

Shocker: The new location under consideration, which Klaus declined to reveal, is in another state.

Zoom in: While the organization received several proposals for new sites in Philly, Portals has yet to find a patron to cover the relocation and ongoing costs for upkeep at those locations, Klaus said.
