Mann Center gets rid of its free parking for concert-goers

State of play: The outdoor venue recently scrapped a four-year run of offering free general parking for concert-goers.

• The cost is now $25 (pre-paid) or $30 (day-of-show).

Flashback: The Mann charged a pay-to-park fee pre-COVID. But fees were put on hold starting in 2021.

The big picture: In June, the Mann will reopen for its 50th season and unveil a $70 million makeover, which includes a new plaza, main entrance, massive LED screen and welcome center.

• The venue was recently renamed the Highmark Mann Center for the Performing Arts.

What they're saying: Christine Reimert, a spokesperson for the Mann, tells Axios that the fee is back in place for the 2026 season to help manage the parkland that serves as the parking area.

• The venue is also improving the site by adding more lighting, parking staff and signage.
