The original Rocky statue vacated its longtime home at the base of the Philadelphia Museum of Art's steps yesterday.
Why it matters: The city's most popular statue draws more than 4 million visitors annually and has stood there since 2006.
Driving the news: Crews hoisted the 1,100-pound statue off its pedestal using a crane and placed it securely on a flatbed before bringing it into the museum on Wednesday.
- It marked the first time the 8.5-foot bronze statue crossed the threshold of the museum.
What's next: The monument to Philly's favorite fictional son will be the centerpiece of the new "Rising Up" exhibit, which debuts April 25.
