You can treasure hunt for rare coins across Philly this week

Driving the news: In honor of its 90th anniversary, the auction house is hiding certificates for collectable coins and currency at five of Philadelphia's most cherished historical sites.

• The first clue will be unveiled Tuesday at 10am on the auction house's social media pages, with subsequent clues revealed each day at the same time.

Zoom in: The treasure hunt runs through Saturday, culminating in a shot at the grand prize: a 1927 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle designed and minted in Philadelphia worth $3,500.

• Winners can sell back the prizes to the auction house, and they will also receive a copy of the 2026 Guide Book of United States Coins.

Zoom out: Stack's Bowers — which has a Center City storefront — already held treasure hunts in Boston and New York this month and is conducting another giveaway in Miami on Oct. 28-Nov. 1.

• The combined value of all the prize giveaways is $40,000, the company says.
