Hundreds of federal workers apply for Pennsylvania government jobs

By the numbers: Job seekers with prior federal work experience have submitted approximately 1,100 applications to Pennsylvania public service roles so far, Daniel Egan, a spokesperson for the Office of Administration, told Axios this week.

• It's unknown how many of those people are newly unemployed.

Catch up quick: Gov. Josh Shapiro launched a state recruitment campaign and website on March 5 — joining other states, including New York and Virginia, looking to lure federal workers to state jobs.

The top Pennsylvania positions with the most applications through the program so far:

1. Unemployment compensation claims intake interviewer
2. Driver license examiner assistant
3. Clerical assistant 2

Meanwhile, Philly is getting in on the action by hosting a networking event for those with federal workforce experience today from 4-7:30pm at the Holland & Knight law firm, 1650 Market St., Suite 3300.
