It's fake fall in Philly — but not for long

Siri, tell us it's almost football season without telling us it's almost football season.

Why it matters: Philly is geeking out over this week's faux fall weather — the smell of the Linc's crisply cut grass in the air (!) — after a record-setting hot summer filled with several heat waves.

State of play: The last few days have seen highs in the 70s.

Friday's high is 83 degrees, with lows expected in the 60s.

The intrigue: Wednesday's low of 57 in Philly was the coolest August temperature we've had since 2007, per the National Weather Service.

We set the record for chilliest August temp (44 degrees) in 1986.

What's ahead: Rock your fall football swag while you can, Bird Gang, because we'll be back in our sweaty pits era by this weekend.

Highs are expected to creep into the mid-80s by Saturday and will be in the high 80s earlier next week.
