Exploring bars in Philly's Brewerytown neighborhood
This weekend, I checked out some of the bars Axios Philadelphia readers recommended in the Brewerytown neighborhood.
Crime and Punishment Brewing Co.
What I ordered: I opted to stay in the holiday spirit and chose a Boomlaut Marzen Oktoberfest ($5).
- I also got an order of pierogi with sautéed onions and sour cream ($12). It's an easy snack that melts in your mouth — and it's big enough to share with two people.
Thought bubble: I highly recommend this place. All of their beers are brewed in the morning, and I loved the decor and shelf full of Russian books.
📍 Visit: 2711 W Girard Ave., Philadelphia. Tuesday-Sunday, 3-9:30pm.
What I ordered: I stopped by the Ethiopian restaurant and bar around 9pm on a Friday, and opted to keep it simple. I ordered the Area Two Pineapple Sour D Hazy IPA ($10).
Thought bubble: I quickly learned that this is the neighborhood hangout. I even ran into a few of my actual neighbors!
- The space is large, and the atmosphere is relaxed. I definitely plan on stopping by again soon to try the food.
Tip: Bring cash! Card minimums are $10.
📍 Visit: 2743 Poplar St., Philadelphia. The restaurant is open Monday-Friday, 4-11pm, and Saturday-Sunday, 4-10pm. Bar hours: 4pm-2am every day.
