Walmart heir Alice Walton's medical school waives tuition for first students

• Spokesperson Aaron Anderson confirmed to Axios the tuition break is for all four years of school.

The latest: The school has the green light to start recruiting students for its inaugural class now that it's received preliminary accreditation status, according to the news release. The school will begin accepting applications in early November with plans to accept 48 students and start classes in fall 2025.

• It has no plans to increase class sizes in the following years, Anderson told Axios.

Background: Walton founded both the medical school and the Heartland Whole Health Institute being built nearby to take the "whole health" approach that focuses on physical, emotional and mental health plus emphasizes preventative care and healthy lifestyles.

• The Alice L. Walton School of Medicine is a four-year medical school that will train future doctors, and the Heartland Whole Health Institute is a nonprofit that focuses on advocacy in health care including lowering costs.
