Fewer UofA freshmen are dropping out

The University of Arkansas had its highest rate of freshmen stick around from fall to spring semester this year.

By the numbers: 95% of full-time, degree-seeking freshmen who started school in fall 2023 returned this semester, up from 94.2% the previous year, according to a news release.

Background: Chancellor Charles Robinson has said his top priorities include making the university more affordable for students from low-income families so that they are more likely to stay.

Details: Accelerate Student Achievement, a program designed to help first-generation college students from Arkansas by getting them on campus early, saw a record retention rate of 97.5%.
