Viral TikToker Keith Lee is back in Louisiana, and these are the Baton Rouge restaurants he says are worth the drive.
Why it matters: Lee has more than 16 million followers, and his reviews usually lead to a huge boost for the small businesses he features.
The big picture: Lee and his family live in Las Vegas and kicked off a national food tour last year in New Orleans.
- The restaurants he visited were packed after he posted about them, with Kajunlicious saying it had a four-hour wait the next day. Here's everywhere he ate on that trip.
- He later crowned New Orleans his favorite place to eat.
- Things didn't go so well in Atlanta, however.
Zoom in: Lee has posted five restaurant reviews from Baton Rouge as of 3pm Monday.
🍳 Fork N Spoon: The brisket and eggs dish was the star here. Good brunch for a good price, he says. He left a $3,000 tip.
🥤 Dr. FeelGood: The blue dream smoothie was delicious, refreshing and "exactly what you need on a hot day like this," he says. He left another $3,000 tip at this Black-owned juice and smoothie spot, along with $1,000 to pay for meals for other customers.
🔥 Smoke Bayou: "The juiciest chicken I've ever had in my life," he says. The brisket and sausage also got top marks.
🍴The Bayou Affect: Good catfish that's "seasoned extremely well" and a really good fried chicken wing. A seafood allergy meant he wasn't able to try many items on the menu, but he still called the overall experience "underwhelming."
- The restaurant responded. They also posted a video that says Lee told "untruth" about them. The original has been deleted but a version is circulating on X.
🐓 KOK Wings & Things: "It's a good ass wing." You come here to party, and the food works when you want to drink and dance, he adds.
If you go: The customer service in Baton Rouge is "amazing," Lee said, but he's taking it with a grain of salt because "Baton Rouge has been going nuts" since he announced his visit.
- He commented in several reviews that he was surprised at the large portions for the price he paid.
- But, online ordering options were limited, he said, along with hours.
The intrigue: Lee said he's back in Louisiana to work on an unnamed project.
- "And when I say something, God is amazing."
Zoom out: Lee recently partnered with Microsoft to help independently-owned restaurants.
- Larry Morrow's Monday restaurant was one of three places nationally that was featured on a limited video series called "The Reheat with Keith Lee."
