The Titans' 53-man roster featured one fall from grace and one training camp Cinderella story.

Why it matters: General manager Mike Borgonzi made a wave of cuts and waiver claims in recent days as he fine-tuned the roster in advance of the team's opening game against the Jets.

Driving the news: Former starting quarterback Will Levis was among the cuts. Levis was viewed as the team's QB of the future just two seasons ago, before poor play and injuries knocked his career off course.

In a bit of a surprise, Levis went unclaimed on the waiver wire, meaning no other NFL team wanted him to be a backup.

The latest: Borgonzi added four new players to the roster Monday — linebacker Owen Pappoe, defensive back Melvin Smith, safety Terrell Burgess and defensive lineman Nazir Stackhouse.

Fun fact: Stackhouse is nicknamed Big Sleepy because he has battled narcolepsy.

Yes, but: A feel-good story came to an end. Underdog receiver Xavier Restrepo made the team's initial 53-man roster on Sunday, but was waived the next day to make room for the new players.

What's next: With the roster set, the Titans turn their attention to the New York Jets, who they will host at Nissan Stadium in Week 1.
