Will Levis has been out of the spotlight for a while.
The Tennessee Titans' former starting quarterback took last year off after a shoulder injury. He didn't talk to a reporters during that time.
But he radiated confidence when he stepped up to the podium at training camp on Saturday. He said the year off has put him in a better position than ever.
What he's saying: "I needed that time, not just physically, but just mentally to calm the nervous system," Levis told reporters, per ESPN.
"Where I'm at mentally is in a much healthier place than it's ever been. I feel like I worked a lot for other people's approval in the beginning of my career. And whereas I'm just trying to be the best version of me at this point."
Reality check: Levis remains on the Titans roster, but he is in Cam Ward's shadow. He's currently competing with veteran quarterback Mitchell Trubisky to become Ward's understudy.
Between the lines: The Tennessean's Gentry Estes notes Levis' comments seemed geared toward other teams that might snap him up down the line.
The bottom line: "I know I've put the tape out there already that I'm a dang good quarterback in this league," Levis said.
"There are not 32 quarterbacks in this league better than me. I know that for sure."
