Sweetgreen, the buzzy coastal salad chain, is opening its first Nashville location soon.
Why it matters: It's the city's latest big food import.
🍽️ State of plate: The chain has become a fixture in many major cities since its 2007 founding and is in the midst of a huge national expansion plan.
The restaurant is a fast-casual concept in the vein of Cava or Chipotle, with a health-conscious bent. The menu featuresmade-to-order salads and warm grain bowls.
Between the lines: Expect a lot more lettuce and kale than you'd get at In-N-Out.
💭 Our thought bubble: Sweetgreen is a divisive topic among our Axios colleagues. Some adore it and others absolutely do not. We asked for reviews yesterday and got 50+ replies in a few minutes.
The passionate opinions pretty much guarantee that we're going to give it a try, if only to be part of the debate.
What's next: Sweetgreen is scheduled to open its first Nashville location on June 30.
You can check it out at 341 11th Ave. South in The Gulch.
