The trademark red and yellow signs are installed, crews are putting the finishing touches on the buildings and four In-N-Out Burger locations are on track to open in the Nashville area soon.
Why it matters: In-N-Out is one of the most popular fast food chains in the country, and the new shops will be the company's first in the eastern U.S.
State of play: The buildings in Antioch, Lebanon, Murfreesboro and Franklin appear pretty much finished, but the company remains cagey about announcing opening dates.
What they're saying: "We don't yet have tentative opening dates for our locations under construction in Antioch, Lebanon, Murfreesboro, and Franklin, but we hope to begin serving our customers in the next few months," In-N-Out vice president for store development Mike Abbate tells Axios.
- In-N-Out is building a corporate headquarters, which the company calls its eastern territory office, next to the Franklin location right off I-65 near Berry Farms. It will be open by late 2026, he says.
Flashback: In-N-Out earned a rabid fanbase in the western U.S., where it has over 380 locations.
- The move to set up shop in Tennessee came with the promise of good-paying corporate jobs and new burger joints in the area.
- Gov. Bill Lee's administration committed $2.75 million in economic development grants for In-N-Out, the Tennessean reported.
The intrigue: The upcoming openings have In-N-Out fans, who are kind of like "Star Wars" nerds but for cheeseburgers, worked into a frenzy.
- The Facebook group In-N-Out fans of Tennessee has 33,800 members.
Our orders: Adam and Nate both make sure to hit In-N-Out when they visit California.
- Nate's go-to order is a double-double, no tomato, add pickles with cheese fries and a shake.
- Adam goes animal-style on the fries.
