Carl Dean: The man behind Dolly's heart

Nashville continues to rally around Dolly Parton following the death of her husband Carl Dean earlier this week.

Zoom in: Dean shunned the spotlight and public appearances, but Parton spoke lovingly of their bond.

What she's saying: "He's a good guy and we have a great understanding of each other," Parton told Dan Rather in a 2014 interview that has been shared widely since Dean's death.

• "I never get tired of him. He's got a his own sense of humor. He's got his own way of thinking," Parton said. "He's not involved in the music business at all, but he loves music.
• "We're different, but yet we are so compatible."
