We found the Nashville newspaper Dolly Parton read with Sabrina Carpenter

Driving the news: We love a well-informed diva, and we were eager to track down the edition Parton is reading.

• Adam put out the 'Dolly' signal, and he and his Axios colleagues scoured the internet.
• After a few minutes of squinting and searching, Shane Savitsky, the managing editor of Axios Local, found the answer on eBay: Aug. 19, 1977.
• The top story on the front page was about Elvis Presley's funeral, with a headline reading "Some kissed casket goodbye."

💭 Shane's thought bubble: Never give a group of journalists a research task on a Friday afternoon.

• Since the Banner archives at newspapers.com only go back to 1963 and the Nashville Public Library's clippings library wasn't going to be of much use, given the blurriness of the video, it all came down to a little reasoning and a lot of luck.
• I searched "Nashville Banner front pages" on Google Images, hoping to at least pin down a timeframe based on the style of the nameplate. From there, I noticed that some of the highest-quality pictures came from eBay.

• That made me think like a music video production assistant. If I wanted an old Nashville newspaper for Dolly, I'd probably just buy one online. So I searched "Nashville Banner newspaper" on eBay, and as luck would have it, the first result showed exactly what we were looking for.
