The irrepressible Dolly Parton has announced her latest project: Starting next year, symphonies around the world will present her greatest hits backed by lush strings, brass and woodwinds.

State of play: "Dolly Parton's Threads: My Songs in Symphony" is billed as a night of multimedia storytelling, with Parton appearing on screen to guide audiences through her life and songs.

  • The orchestrations promise to present Parton's music at an appropriately grand scale, befitting of Music City royalty.

What's next: The show will debut on March 20, 2025, with the Nashville Symphony before touring.

💭 Adam's thought bubble: There's a reason Parton is featured on Beyoncé's genre-defying album "Cowboy Carter." Like Beyoncé, Parton has repeatedly plunked herself into unfamiliar musical terrain.

  • After releasing a 30-track rock album last year, it is thrilling to see her zigzag again.
  • I wish she'd appear in person at these shows, but she stopped touring to be close to her husband.
