Meatless Monday: The Bulldog's great Brussels sprouts

As we barrel head first toward the best time of year, I'm scoping out vegetarian-friendly places with a decent beer list and enough TVs to catch all the March Madness action.

The latest: The Bulldog, which is serving up some of the city's best Brussels sprouts.

What they're saying: "Brussels sprouts — classic basketball-watching food," said my husband sarcastically on a recent visit.

Yes, but: They're fried. They're cheesy. They're shareable.

  • If you ask me, they check all the boxes for a perfect game-watching snack.

What to order: Start with the blistered Brussels sprouts ($11). Halved sprouts get flash-fried into tender, crunchy goodness, tossed with toasted macadamia nuts in a sweet and spicy glaze and finished with a cheese sauce.

  • Then order an Indiana classic — square-cut pie from the Pizza King.
  • In addition to its own wood-fired pizzas, The Bulldog has added Pizza King items to their menu.
  • The Impossible pizza ($13 for a 10-inch) comes topped with meatless sausage, mushrooms, onion and green peppers — all chopped in Pizza King's signature style.

Plus: The Bulldog has a self-pour wall with dozens of beers and more than 50 TVs.

The bottom line: Beers. Brussels sprouts. Basketball. IYKYK.
