Meatless Monday: Game time at The Tap

Now through March, I'm scoping out vegetarian-friendly places to cheer on your favorite college basketball team.

  • I'm looking for places with multiple meatless options, a decent beer list and enough TVs to catch all the March Madness action.
  • We've covered spin dip at Chatham Tap and a not-sad salad at Ralston's.

The latest: The Tap, which is more than just addictive seasoned fries.

What to order: The black bean burger ($15.30), served with lettuce, tomato, red onion and fresh guacamole. A sun-dried tomato aioli and cilantro cream sauce set it apart from dry, bland black bean patties you may be used to. The patty is a little crumbly, but it was tasty enough that I didn't mind finishing it with a fork.

  • It comes with a side of tortilla chips and house-made salsa but sub in the tap fries instead.
  • If you're just looking to snack, the soft pretzel sticks ($10) and fried green beans ($9) are solid veg-friendly options. A buffalo cauliflower and cheese curd mix ($11) is also on the menu. It's good, but definitely more cheese than cauliflower.

Plus: The Tap has one of the most extensive beer lists in the city. Something for literally everyone.

If you go: 306 N. Delaware St.

  • Open 11am to midnight Sunday, 11am to 1am Monday-Thursday and 11am to 2am Friday and Saturday.
