Mayor Shawn C. Teamann had a hard time telling us how he would spend his perfect Sherman day. The longtime Sherman resident and entrepreneur didn't want to exclude any businesses in the process of highlighting some.
- "I've always lived here (in the Texoma area) — went to college here, met my wife here, am raising my family here and own a business here," he said.
The intrigue: Teamann describes Sherman as a "big small city." Despite fast-paced growth, Sherman's residents and leaders have tried to maintain the city's identity.
- "As people move here, they end up molding into the Sherman culture instead of taking over the Sherman culture and having a completely different city," Teamann tells Axios.
We asked the mayor to share some of his favorite sports near downtown Sherman. Here is what he said:
☕️ Coffee: CJ's Coffee or The White Rabbit. I spend an equal amount of time at each one of those locations in the morning for breakfast. You also may find me at Lupe's Tamales, who serves an incredible breakfast burrito.
🍔 Lunch: City Limits, 903 Brewers, Old Iron Post, La Piazza and MG's Burgers.
- City Limits is also known for its Dennyritas, margaritas named after the owner.
🍽️ His desert island dish: Turkey tacos and chips, queso and hot sauce from City Limits.
🍨 Dessert: Cranky's Ice Cream.
🎤 Favorite activity only found in Sherman: Our concert series runs every Thursday in the summer. It's an incredible event and it really shows you who Sherman is.
🛝 Favorite Sherman park: Fairview Park. It was gifted to the city. The land was a green space, and it's really developed out over the years. We have a minor league baseball team that plays there.
