TCU's college of communication is named after Schieffer. UT Arlington has an exhibit with his artwork, photos and letters from his Vietnam War coverage.
What they're saying: "Independently gathered information and giving citizens access to it is as important to a democracy as the right to vote," Schieffer said in a 2015 interview.
"You can't have the form of government that we have without giving citizens access to independently gathered, accurate information that they can compare to the government's version of events."
