The most congested roads in Dallas-Fort Worth

Zoom in: North Texans sat in more than 174 million hours of traffic delays last year, up 8% from 2023, according to the report.

• Woodall Rodgers from US 75 to Beckley Avenue ranked third in the state for congestion. The 1.45 mile stretch of roadway can add 28 minutes to a commute.

Zoom out: Houston has seven of the 10 most congested road segments in the state. Austin has one — a stretch of Interstate 35 ranked ninth.

• I-35W in Fort Worth ranks eighth. The more than 3-mile stretch from State Highway 183 to Interstate 30 can add 23 minutes to a trip.

By the numbers: Road congestion in D-FW wasted more than 60 million gallons of fuel in 2024, up nearly 39% from 2023. The rest of the Top 20 most congested roads in North Texas:

• 11th: I-30 in Dallas from the Jefferson Viaduct to East Grand Avenue. The nearly 4-mile stretch can add 19 minutes to the average commute.

• 12th: I-35E from I-30 to SH 183 can add 19 minutes.
• 13th: US 75 from Woodall Rodgers to Northwest Highway sees more than 230,000 vehicles a day.
• 14th: Interstate 635 from I-35 to US 75 sees more than 796,000 vehicles daily.
• 16th: US 75 from Northwest Highway to I-635.
• 17th: Interstate 345 from US 75 to I-45 can add 32 minutes during peak congestion.
• 18th: SH 121 from SH 183 to Loop 820. Nearly 235,000 vehicles drive by the midcities daily.

The bottom line: If you have to drive from I-30 up US 75 to 635: Bless your heart.
