Tasty Tuesday: Sabar BBQ

Sabar means patience in Urdu, and you'll taste it in every bite at this Fort Worth food truck.

The intrigue: Owner Zain Shafi, who learned his craft at Goldee's, blends Texas barbecue technique with his family's Pakistani heritage.

The result is a menu that's bold and original, where slow-smoked meats meet fresh, spiced sides. That beautiful contrast has earned Sabar a spot on Texas Monthly's 2025 Top 50 barbecue restaurants.

What to order: Tandoori turkey, brisket, ribs, daal chawaal, kachumber salad and fruit chaat.

Don't skip dessert: Gajrela, a warm, creamy carrot pudding is spiced with saffron and cardamom.

Where: Sabar BBQ, 105 S. Main St, Fort Worth. Weekends only.

Cost: A three-meat, two-side plate runs about $30.

Pro tip: Get there a little before 11 so you don't miss out. Once the food truck sells out (and it often does), that's it for the day.
