"The Wrong Paris" is one of the top movies on Netflix but even the lead actor's attempt at Matthew McConaughey's accent can't make the lush greenery, rolling hills and mountains seem like anywhere in Texas.
Why it matters: The movie works hard to make the viewer believe it's set in Paris, Texas, relying on fake accents, horses, cowboy hats and Shiner to telegraph authenticity.
State of play: A small town girl desperately wants to move to Paris for art school but doesn't have enough money to get there. The obvious solution is to get cast on a reality TV show set in France.
The cast of women think they're meeting a French lover but are surprised to find out they're in … the wrong Paris!
Zoom in: The movie, at one hour and 47 minutes, is about as long as the drive from Dallas to the real Paris, Texas.
Netflix didn't even reference the actual Texas Eiffel Tower, which is topped with a red cowboy hat.
Funniest parts: The Bachelor-type lead is seen carrying a bale of hay wearing a sleeveless button-up left open to show off his abs. Any proper Texan knows you want full sleeves and covered torsos to throw hay.
The third-generation rancher later says, "You know what the best thing about electric trucks is? They don't make a sound when you're sneaking out," during what's obviously an ad.
