FC Dallas president Dan Hunt's favorite things to do in North Texas

• The region hasn't yet hosted an Olympics, but it will host nine games of the FIFA Men's World Cup next year and the PGA Championship in 2027.

The intrigue: Frisco, where Toyota Stadium and the National Soccer Hall of Fame are located, is now part of the debate over whether the term "Dallas-Fort Worth" should also include other large North Texas cities such as Arlington and Frisco.

What they're saying: "North Texas rallies around big moments. Whether it's a World Cup announcement party, the State Fair of Texas or the Cattle Baron's Ball, we know how to show up," Hunt tells Axios.

We asked Hunt about his favorite spots around North Texas.

• Here's what he said:

🍽️ Favorite restaurant: The original Bob's Steak & Chop House on Lemmon Avenue. I had so many meals there with my mom and dad. It's impossible for me to walk in without smiling.

🏟️ Favorite place to hang out with family: FC Dallas matches at Toyota Stadium. There's nothing better than being surrounded by our fans, my family, and the energy of a big FC Dallas match.

💅 Favorite place to take colleagues: I did a team event about five years ago with our players and their partners at a nail salon in Dallas. That outing got a lot of laughs … and some tears.

🍦 Favorite dessert spot or bar: I still miss the Highland Park Pharmacy. It was an institution. But every time I can get La Boca Gelato, I'm in. Their mint chocolate chip is unbeatable and my daughters' favorite.

🏆 Favorite local sports memory: Winning the 2016 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Toyota Stadium. To lift a trophy named after my dad, in our home stadium, in front of our fans was unforgettable.

🤠 Our most underrated spots: The Fort Worth Stockyards aren't exactly underrated, but I never get tired of them. And downtown Celina has this great small-town charm with a Texas heartbeat.
