Irving-based Michaels is trying to be more like Joann.
Driving the news: Michaels has acquired Joann's intellectual property and private label brands after Joann went bankrupt and shut down its locations.
The acquisition adds to Michaels' efforts to fill the void left by Joann.
State of play: Michaels said last week that it is adding over 600 new products, including fabric, thread, yarn and quilting supplies.
Michaels' acquisition of Joann brands includes the beloved Big Twist products, which will be developed as Michaels products for online and in-store sales later this year.
The company has created a webpage to help Joann customers find comparable products.
The button line: If you're still grieving Joann and it's too soon to go anywhere else, our thoughts and prayers are with you.
