The Los Angeles-based annual program is expanding to Texas this year. Bleak Week screens great movies that portray the dark side of humanity.
Zoom in: The Texas Theatre will have bleak showings every day, including a 35mm screening of "The Turin Horse."
The theater will still feature current releases, including Wes Anderson's "The Phoenician Scheme" and the re-release of "Dogma."
The intrigue: The theater, which first opened in 1931, made international news in 1963 because Lee Harvey Oswald hid there after President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.
Pro tip: The bar opens 45 minutes before scheduled movies or events. Buy tickets in advance for special screenings or 35mm films.
What to order: Lady Fay — mezcal, hibiscus, ginger beer and lemon.
We also really enjoyed The Bruce, a Hennessy concoction served in a coupe.
