Dallas museum gets bug exhibit designed by "Lord of the Rings" visual effects studio

Tickets go on sale today for the "Bug Lab," an exhibition on insects developed in New Zealand.

Why it matters: Keep the kids — and adults — from experiencing the summer brain drain by learning about entomology.

Context: The Perot Museum of Nature and Science exhibit will give visitors a chance to learn about bugs from their perspective by moving through immersive chambers designed by New Zealand's national museum, Te Papa, and Wētā Workshop, the visual effects company that worked on "Lord of the Rings."

• "Bug Lab" opens June 28, but museum officials recommend buying tickets in advance. It closes Jan. 4.

If you go: General admission is $25 and $15 for kids ages 2-12. The lab requires an extra ticket for $10 or $8 for kids.
