Gemma continues to receive accolades for the Henderson Avenue bistro's food and drink service.
Why it matters: The independently-owned restaurant has been added to the Michelin guide in Texas and was a James Beard finalist last year in the outstanding hospitality category.
Now, executive chef and co-owner Stephen Rogers has been selected as "one to watch" by the James Beard Foundation.
The latest: Rogers was added this month to the annual TasteTwenty Chefs list. He will make an eggplant, okra and chickpea fatteh at a James Beard tasting event July 29 in L.A.
Vibe check: The restaurant feels cozier, yet more open, since undergoing renovations in 2023. The green walls and painted plates lend it the feel of a countryside bistro.
The menu is focused on French and Italian cuisine.
