Hometown golf heroes Scottie Scheffler and Jordan Spieth will compete this weekend in the CJ Cup Byron Nelson golf tournament.
Why it matters: Golf is having a moment.
It seemed like everyone in North Texas was watching Rory McIlroy win his green jacket during the Masters last month. It was the most watched final round of the tournament since 2018.
Driving the news: The Byron Nelson starts at 7am today and continues through Sunday at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney.
The intrigue: Scheffler is the only one of the world's top 10 golfers to play at the Byron. It's the first time since 2022 that both Scheffler and Spieth are competing.
Zoom in: Dallas residents Scheffler, Spieth and Si Woo Kim are grouped. They tee off in Round 1 today at 12:33pm.
Kim and Scheffler play at the same golf club.
"We'll have a lot of people from Dallas supporting all three of us, so it should be a lot of fun," Scheffler said yesterday.
How to fake it: Golf looks simple but is deceptively difficult to play. Players want to get the ball from the tee and into the hole in as few shots as possible.
The golfer with the fewest shots wins!
How to watch: The first rounds air on the Golf Channel.
CBS will air the final rounds 3-6pm Saturday and Sunday.
