For the first time in Axios Dallas history, we stumped you. Well, most of you.
Driving the news: On Monday, we asked Axios Dallas readers to tell us where this art lives. Only two people guessed correctly.
State of play: This sculpture greets sports fans at Grand Prairie Stadium, which was once the home of the minor league baseball team the AirHogs.
The stadium has been converted into a cricket facility, but the sculpture has remained.
The intrigue: The sculpture shows four life-size airmen — and a dog — to represent Grand Prairie's aviation history through World War II, Korea, Vietnam and Operation Desert Storm.
"In 1929, the cattle and farming community of Grand Prairie, population 1,529, welcomed the Curtiss-Wright Airport of Fort Worth-Dallas," a stone by the sculpture reads.
The Navy took over the airport in 1942, and the Army opened an air base nearby.
Fun fact: The term "Air Hogs" refers to military pilots during World War II.
