The Dallas Wings will reach about 6.3 million households this season because of broadcasting agreements that will allow games to be shown in Austin, Houston, San Antonio and other Texas cities.
Why it matters: The Wings cleaned up in the WNBA draft, selecting No. 1 pick Paige Bueckers and four other top college ballers.
The broadcasting deals will give the Wings the largest local broadcasting footprint in WNBA history, Wings CEO Greg Bibb announced at a news conference yesterday.
The latest: The rookies were introduced yesterday at Dallas City Hall, highlighting the team's upcoming move from their current arena at UT Arlington.
The players were given cowboy hats to welcome them to Texas.
Who they are: The Wings also added Aziaha James of North Carolina State, Madison Scott of Ole Miss, JJ Quinerly of West Virginia and Aaronette Vonleh of Baylor.
What they're saying: Bueckers said she and her new teammates already feel welcome in Dallas. Her goal is to make the Wings the team players clamor to play for.
"There's a lot of new in this organization so to be a part of something and build with each other and just create a new sisterhood — really exciting," she said.
What we're watching: How the Wings' new coach, Chris Koclanes, and the rookies mesh with the veteran players.
