State of art: James Reid, a 25-year-old software developer in England, turns flight tracking information into data visual displays of takeoffs and landings at major airports.
His fans asked him to render arrivals and departures from DFW.
The big picture: The DFW rendering clearly depicts the structure of the terminals. Reid said it's clear the airport has a "clearly proceduralised airspace," similar to Denver's and Atlanta's airports.
"This one is the cleanest, perhaps because of the perfect alignment with the grid," he wrote.
How it works: Reid generated the rendering from 12 weeks of aircraft position data over a year at DFW Airport.
The approaches are shown in blue and the departures in green.
What they're saying: "I love making things any which way I can, particularly on the computer and in the kitchen," Reid, who is an aviation buff and has a pilot's license, tells Axios.
The bottom line: Reid showcases his work and process on Instagram and sells the renderings on Etsy.
