A new exhibit at the Perot Museum will make you feel really, really poor.
The latest: The Perot is exhibiting 100 gems from around the world through October 2025.
State of slay: "Topaz: A Spectrum in Stone"includes the imperial flame (seen above), a 332-carat topaz from Ouro Preto, Brazil, described as the "gem of the century."
There is also a 15-pound blue topaz and a 9,630-carat marquise-cut gem — basically a very shiny, heavy football.
Many of the highlights are from Brazil, but there are also topaz pieces from Pakistan, Namibia, Russia and Texas.
The intrigue: The collection also features a 234-carat Texas topaz with a star carved in the bottom.
The blue topaz is the state's official gemstone. It's only found in Mason County in the Hill Country.
