Texas has a lot of potential trick-or-treaters, according to U.S. Census data.
The big picture: 5-to-14-year-olds — prime trick-or-treating age — make up about 12.5% of the U.S. population, per the 2022 five-year American Community Survey.
Kids make up 14.4% of the Texas population, second only to Utah, where kids 5-14 make up 16.2% of the population.
Zoom in: Denton County has a lower share of kids compared to the most populous Dallas-Fort Worth counties. Kids 5-14 make up 13.7% of the county's population.
In Kaufman County, kids make up 16.1% of the population, the highest percentage in North Texas.
