Dallas' voting stickers designed by high schoolers

State of play: The Dallas County Elections Department held a contest for the new sticker design, in collaboration with the nonprofit March to the Polls.

• The winning design, by W.W. Samuell High School student Mareily L., has a hand-drawn Dallas skyline. 
• There's also a sticker for future voters. Arlington high schooler Elizabeth O. designed one that says "I wanna wear a I Voted sticker too."

What they're saying: "I'm thankful for this opportunity. … I'm really proud I'm getting to represent," Mareily says.

The intrigue: Dallas County Elections ordered over 1 million stickers of the two varieties for this election.

Flashback: A woman in Seattle designed the commonly used red, white and blue "I voted" sticker in 1987, after taking over her father's election supply business. 

• The oval-shaped sticker with the American flag to the left became the company's top seller, with sales in almost all of the 50 states, per AARP.
