Big Tex is hanging up his hat and saying his last howdy for the year.

The latest: The 24-day State Fair of Texas closes Sunday night. High temperatures will hover just below 80 through Sunday, so it'll be the coolest weekend of the fair. 

Here are a few final events:  

🎸 Live music: The Spin Doctors play at 8:30 tonight. Foghat plays 8:30pm Saturday. The Commodores close out the fair at 4:30pm Sunday.  

🤠 Rodeo: The United Professional Rodeo Association World Finals take place all weekend at the Fair Park Coliseum.    

🧑‍🍳 Cooking demonstrations: The fair's resident chef will show how to make a few dishes in the Creative Arts building. Learn biscuits at 11:30am, shrimp at 1:30pm and beef at 3:30pm. 

🤤 Taste test: Of this year's Big Tex Choice Awards, we recommend the drowning taquitos and the hot chick-in-pancake poppers.
