Dallas hockey and basketball fans will get to try several new foods with locally sourced ingredients this season.
Driving the news: The Stars' season is underway. The Mavericks' season starts Oct. 24.
The intrigue:50 Eggs Hospitality Group — which created the concept for Yardbird and other popular restaurants nationwide — worked on the American Airlines Center's new food concessions.
Foodie fact: Greg, our Axios Dallas social host, sampled the food last week and said it's "a real step up from what you're used to at an arena."
The new menu includes…
🍕 Pizza: James Beard Award nominee Frank Bonanno revamped the arena's most ordered food. Cheese and pepperoni pizza will be available.
To those who loved the arena's Pizza Hut personal pizzas, we're sorry. They'll no longer be at the AAC, per the DMN.
🥪 Philly cheesesteaks: This "Texas-sized"sandwich will include shaved rib-eye from 44 Farms near Temple.
🫕 Churros. Dallas' Churro Factory created the dulce de leche churro.
🍔 Smash burger: The reimagined burger will feature beef, cheese, secret sauce and pickles on a brioche bun.
🌮 Tacos: Dallas-based La Norteña Tortillas will supply preservative-free corn tortillas for the AAC's street tacos, which come with carne asada, carnitas or tacos al pastor.
🥩 Barbecue. Zavala's Barbecue in Grand Prairie will sell brisket, sausage and beef ribs.
