Now baseball fans in India can watch a professional U.S. player of Indian background.
Catch up fast: The Rangers drafted Rocker with the third overall pick in 2022. He underwent Tommy John surgery last year to fix a torn ligament in his right elbow.
The pitcher made five starts with the Double-A Frisco Roughriders this summer before his first Triple-A debut in August.
Rocker made his major league debut Thursday against the Seattle Mariners. He threw four innings, only allowing one run in the Rangers' 5-4 win.
What they're saying: Rocker's mother is Indian, and his father is Black. He said his mother was likely more excited than he was about his historic debut.
"She always let me know that I was Indian growing up, being half and half. And I think she's going to be really happy about it," he told USA Today.
What's next: Rocker is scheduled for his first start at Globe Life Field this Thursday, again against the Mariners, per the DMN.
His home debut will be followed by the return of Jacob deGrom, who is set to start Friday. He hasn't pitched at the globe since April 2023.
