One taco to (not) go: Fuel City

Our latest taco adventure took our Axios Texas social media host to a notorious gas station taqueria.

• He's on a quest to try as many fuel-stop tacos as he can.

State of play: Fuel City tacos were once labeled the best in Texas, and they popularized the idea of gas station tacos in the region.

• They're so well-known that actor Shia LaBeouf once stopped there.

What we ordered: Beef fajita, chicken, barbacoa, picadillo and al pastor.

Where: Fuel City, 801 S. Riverfront Blvd. — with other locations throughout Dallas-Fort Worth.

Cost: $2.77 per taco.
