Birdie's Eastside is proof that all things can be given second life.

  • What was once a Luby's is now a spacious indoor dining space with a bar that opens into a sprawling, colorful patio. The revamped diner opened in December, serving American fare from bar food to entrees to salads.

Vibe check: Indoors is airy with a mashed up desert lake theme, but outdoors is where the fun is. There's plenty of room for families and kids to play, but also an area for adults with cocktails.

What to order: Cucumber Mint Gimlet vodka, cucumber, lime.

Where: Birdie's Eastside, 6221 E. Mockingbird Lane.

Cost: $14

Six-word review: Chilled sipper reminiscent of the spa.
