Imagining a season of "Love Is Blind: Columbus"

Have you been binge watching Netflix's "Love Is Blind"? Confession: So have we, and we think it's time for a season filmed in Columbus.

Why it matters: A season here would be the talk of the town and fleetingly put Columbus on the pop cultural map.

Catch up quick: The series involves a few-dozen singles who date in pods — they can hear but not see each other.

  • Couples get engaged in the pods before meeting in real life and marrying just weeks later.
  • The reality show's track record for marital success is predictably lackluster, and each season comes with a bevy of twists, fights and controversial love triangles.

State of play: Past seasons have featured other Axios Local cities: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Seattle, Houston and Charlotte.

Reality check: Producers should love us! Central Ohio is not just a hotspot for young professionals, but we have mild weather and an oversupply of dramatic people.

Just picture it: A party scene at Lincoln Social … dinner dates between insurance agents and Statehouse aides at The Refectory … B-roll footage of the corn statues and Ohio Stadium … tipsy arguments at Mikey's Late Night Slice.

  • You know, culture.

The bottom line: We're the 14th-biggest city in America. We deserve a shot on the big Netflix stage.
