Capital One will open a 14,000-square-foot lounge at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Why it matters: Charlotte will be one of a few markets to have a Capital One Lounge. Other airports include JFK, Las Vegas, Denver, DFW and Dulles in Washington, D.C.
What to expect: The new lounge will be on the mezzanine level of Concourse A, near gates 21–29.
- The space will include regionally inspired food and design, views of the airfield, a full-service coffee bar and dedicated workspaces.
What's next: A construction and opening date timeline will be announced at a later date.
Between the lines: Lounge wait times across the globe have increased for many travelers with Priority Pass access, which lets them into certain lounges. Some Capital One credit cards include Priority Pass, but with a dedicated lounge, it may ease wait times for travelers.
What they're saying: "As CLT continues to grow, this addition reflects our continued focus on enhancing the passenger experience and offering high-quality amenities for travelers," Ted Kaplan, Chief Business and Innovation Officer of Charlotte Douglas International Airport, said in a statement.
Zoom out: American Airlines also announced plans recently to open a high-end Flagship lounge at CLT, where guests are greeted with Champagne.
Charlotte's current lounges include:
- American Airlines Admirals Club, with one in Concourse B and one in Concourse D.
- American Express Centurion Lounge between Concourses D and E.
- Delta Sky Club in Concourse A.
- Provisions by Admirals Club in Concourse A.
- The Club at CLT in Concourse A.
- USO Lounge in the Atrium for military members and their families.
