The vibe: The French bakery and cafe has five Charlotte-area locations, but its NoDa flagship is massive with plenty of seating. Plus, it's open late seven days a week.

Brakeman’s Coffee & Supply

Bitty and Beau's

The vibe: Part coffee shop; part non-profit, Change Please Coffee, inside Belmont's Innovation Barn, employs those experiencing homelessness (100% of coffee sales are used to support the mission).

Coco and the Director
The vibe: This Uptown coffee shop has tiered lounge seating and a mezzanine level to escape if you need to focus. With pastries and sandwiches, it’s a good lunch option, too.
Stop by: 100 W. Trade St., on the first floor of the Charlotte Marriott.
- There's no designated parking lot, but it's easily walkable for those who live/work in Uptown.

Daily Ritual Coffee
The vibe: Locally-owned coffee bar offering housemade syrups, creative drinks like a baklava latte, and a small food menu inside Sip City in Plaza Midwood.
Stop by: 917 Central Ave.

Community Matters Cafe
The vibe: Located in Third Ward, Community Matters is where to go when you don't mind striking up a conversation with your neighbor while getting work done.

Gotcha Matcha & Espresso
The vibe: This popular matcha and coffee shop operated as a pop-up until opening its first permanent cafe in Uptown in late 2024. Expect over a dozen matcha lattes, coffee options, pastries and a seating area to get some work done.
Stop by: 200 South Tryon St. Walk past the right side of the front desk. The cafe is down the hallway on the left.

Haraz Coffee House
The vibe: A Yemeni coffee shop on Plaza Midwood's Central Avenue with late-night hours. Avoid the crowds, and up your chance of snagging a table, by going on a weekday or later in the evening.
Stop by: 1204 Central Ave., next to Kouture Nail Bar.
- Open Monday-Thursday 6am-11pm, Friday 6am-1am, Saturday 7 am-1am and Sunday 7am-11pm.

HEX Coffee, Kitchen and Natural Wines
The vibe: An all-day café at Camp North End, offering coffee, natural wine, and a full kitchen with a Japanese-inspired menu — think taro yogurt bowls and katsu sandos.
Stop by: 201 Camp Road.

Hilltop Coffee
The vibe: This recently-opened boutique coffee shop aims to cater to students and remote workers in the University City area. Expect a selection of coffee drinks, teas, and a small food menu, along with indoor and outdoor seating.
Stop by: 10227 Mallard Creek Road.
- Open 7am-3pm daily.
- While seating and parking are somewhat limited, Hilltop is helping fill the gap for locally owned coffee options in an area that has historically had few.

The Hobbyist
The vibe: This Villa Heights coffee and bottle shop has a little bit of everything, from pour-overs to craft cocktails. There's bar and table seating inside, plus a patio for warmer days and free parking.
Pro tip: Laptops aren't allowed at the bar on the weekends.

The vibe: A Black-owned coffee and tea shop that recently opened inside Alongside Brewing in South End. In addition to its creative drink menu — with options like a strawberry shortcake latte — Indigo also has plenty of seating for a productive work day.

Killer Coffee by Resident Culture
The vibe: Resident Culture's South End location may have started as a popular nightlife spot, but it doubles as a spacious and low-key cafe with specialty coffee drinks, pastries, breakfast and lunch dishes.

Lottie's Cafe
The vibe: This locally-owned coffee shop is one of the newest additions to the Queen City Quarter (formerly the EpiCentre) with made-to-order dishes like avocado toasts and breakfast hashes, large tables and plenty of coffee — don't sleep on the Airplane (Biscoff) latte.
Stop by: 210 E. Trade St.
- Open Monday-Saturday 7am-4pm and Sunday 8am-4pm.
- There's no validated parking, so it's best for those already in Uptown.

Queen City Grounds at The Landing
The vibe: An all-day cafe and roastery inside The Landing at 4th Ward in Uptown, serving coffee, cocktails and made-to-order brunch and dinner.

Night Swim Coffee
The vibe: Created by the founders of Not Just Coffee and Undercurrent, Night Swim offers six locations. The Oakhurst, Optimist Park, and Lower South End cafés particularly stand out for remote work, thanks to free parking, spacious interiors, and a sizable food menu.

The People's Market
The vibe: The all-day café and community hub serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Plus, it has a full bar, a bakery and a coffee shop on-site.

Qahwah House
The vibe: If you're looking for a late night option, Yemeni coffee shop Qahwah stays open until 1am on weeknights and 3am on the weekends.
- In addition to Yemeni-style coffee and tea, the coffee shop has Turkish coffee and fruit refreshers.

Rhino Market and Deli South End
The vibe: Though not a traditional coffee shop, this neighborhood deli is a remote worker's dream with spacious indoor and outdoor seating, hot and iced coffee options, a full deli menu, and plenty of other food and drinks inside the market.
- There are numerous Rhino Markets throughout Charlotte, but the South End location is the best for working remotely, in our opinion.
Stop by: 1414 S Tryon St., inside The RailYard development.
- Monday-Wednesday 8am-10pm, Thursday-Friday 8am-11pm, Saturday 9am-11pm and Sunday 9am-9pm.

Salud Cerveceria
The vibe: A two-story Dominican-owned brewery, coffee shop and restaurant on North Davidson Street that offers some of the best pizza in the city.
- The coffee shop and taproom is upstairs with a beer and wine shop below.

The vibe: Often buzzing with remote workers, Stable Hand serves HEX Coffee, craft beer, natural wines and bites, like porridge and avocado toast, inside a modern, colorful space off Remount Road in South End.

The vibe: It's easy to miss this hidden gem on South Blvd., featuring an Insta-worthy yet functional space and a Peruvian-inspired menu of coffee drinks, pastries, sandwiches, and empanadas.

Summit Coffee
The vibe: Davidson-born Summit Coffee has rapidly expanded across the Southeast in the last few years — there's now seven locations in Charlotte and four more in the Lake Norman area alone, with recently-opened cafes in Highland Creek and Wilmore.
- Alongside coffee, all locations offer beer, wine and pastries, and we've yet to meet one we don't like for a remote work day.

Sunfour Baking Company NoDa
The vibe: A popular scratch-made bakery and cafe with five locations around Charlotte. Sunflour's NoDa location is our pick for a day of reading and/or working, with a spacious layout and lots of natural lighting.

- Open 7am-4pm, daily.

Sycamore Brewing
The vibe: Best known as a lively weekend spot for beer and cocktails, Sycamore's South End taproom also features a coffee bar that opens at 7am on weekdays.
Stop by: 2151 Hawkins St., inside The Line.
- Cafe opens Monday-Friday at 7am and Saturday and Sunday at 8am.

Undercurrent Coffee
The vibe: A locally-owned, buzzy coffee shop in Plaza Midwood with cozy seating, a large central bar and a menu of coffee, tea and locally sourced food.
Stop by: 2012 Commonwealth Ave.
- Open Monday-Friday 7am-6pm, Saturday 7:30am-7pm and Sunday 7:30am-5pm.
- Undercurrent also has a stall inside Optimist Hall. There's plenty of seating, but you'll have to pay to park after 90 minutes.

Vavela Cafe
The vibe: A recently-opened late night Turkish coffee shop in a 4,500-square-foot space in University City.
Stop by: 440 E McCullough Dr., on the second floor of McCullough Commons, above Mike's Vegan Grill.
- Open Sunday-Thursday 9am-midnight and Friday-Saturday 9am-2am.

Waterbean Coffee
The vibe: This locally-owned coffee chain began in Cornelius in 2013 and now has over 12 locations in the Charlotte area, including popular neighborhoods like South End and NoDa and into suburbs like Pineville and Huntersville.
